Existe dentro de esta Ruta de los Hospitales una variante, que pongo aquí pero "sin numerar" que estimo muy interesante, pues fue, al menos en 1993, camino oficial, conservándose incluso un monolito con la concha. Solo lo recomiendo para quienes estén familiarizados con el recorrido oficial, pues está parcamente señalizada y hay un tramo que ni siquiera tiene flechas, No ir si hay niebla. Sale de la carretera en el Alto de la Marta y llega a Montefurao, pasando por la Cova de Xan Rata, antigua galería auríferas de los tiempos de Roma:
